Desired Skills :
Following are the expected skills required:
• Good communication. The candidate should understand instructions given in emails and guidelines and should be able to communicate effectively through emails.
• Should have a good understanding of MS Word and Excel.
• A good understanding of HTML and FTP clients.
• The candidate must be good at grasping new processes and should have a good eye to detail.
• An advantage would be if the candidate has worked on XML and ePubs. It will be good to get at least one candidate with this skill.

Job Description :
• Packt launched its own online library in 2010 and also introduced the ePub format to make all titles compatible for different eBook readers. There are backlog titles that need to be reviewed and validated for the ePub format and on the online library. The task of the temp PE resources will mainly be on working with the backlog titles and will include:
1. Review of titles on the online library: The PE will have to review books on the live site and compare it with the final version of the book on the test server to identify that the final corrected title is available on the live site.
2. Moving correct title to the live site: If the final book is not available on the live site, the PE will have to move the final file to the live site. This is an automated process which is done through running a script on the browser.
3. Generating ePubs: This would include
• Generating ePub files - this is an automated process which is done through running a script on the browser.
• ePub download and review - the ePub will have to be downloaded from the path specified in the browser and reviewed in the Adobe Digital edition. The review would include checking that the cover image is present in the ePub, TOC links are working fine, page display looks fine, there are no missing images, etc.
• ePub validation - validating the ePub files with an online ePub checker tool and fixing any issues if any in the XML files. This would also include noting such errors and informing the team leader about them.
• ePub upload – if there are any errors identified while review or validation, the ePub will have to be generated again after correcting them and repeating all of the processes mentioned above. After which, the final ePub will have to be uploaded on the FTP.

The above tasks will also include updating any spreadsheets or scorecards that are provided by the team leader.
